A summer to remember, 5 Promotions!

Halesowen Tennis Club has had a season to remember. Five of their teams achieved promotion, most notably the men’s A team who reached Division 2 of the Birmingham Area League – the highest Halesowen’s men have ever been.
Captained by Christian Paton, they won the league by two points, beating Hall Green into second place. Halesowen’s 4-0 thrashing of Marston Green ensured promotion with a match to spare.

The B team playing in Division 7, captained by Chris Davis finished in second place, amazingly level on points and sets difference with 3rd, level with 4th place on points, edging into second by games difference and sets difference respectively. They finished 2 points off top, but will be in division 6 next summer, also a new high for the B team.

The men’s team in the Staffordshire League finished in fourth position, again having finished all of their matches.

The men’s team in the Hereford and Worcester league also finished in 4th place, ensuring there position in that league for another summer.

Halesowen’s ladies were similarly successful. Having been promoted to a Division 3 of the Birmingham Area League last season, a record high, the A team fought hard to finish in fourth place and stay up.

A new team of ladies, many of whom had only started playing two years ago, were entered into Division 4 of the Staffordshire League, and achieved promotion in their first season.

Furthermore, the team in Division 4 of the Hereford and Worcester league finished in second place, losing only one match.

Halesowen’s mixed team went unbeaten, winning all seven of their matches, achieving promotion to Division 3 of the Birmingham Metropolitan League.
